The menstrual cycle is a natural human experience that society generally tells us to ignore and is often derogatory about. There can be shame and embarrassment attached to it for lots of possible reasons, and as women we don't always talk about our cycles a huge amount, especially the shadow side. Our nervous system is interconnected with our menstrual cycle and having an understanding of this and how we can navigate our own nervous system through daily life is an important part of this work.
Women embody a cyclical lived experience each month. Our hormones rise and fall, and with that our energy levels, mindset, nervous system, motivation and how we show up every day and week changes.
I feel so passionately that every woman would benefit from gaining a deep awareness of their menstrual cycle, and nervous systems, to honour each part of us and the strengths and challenges, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually that exist within us.
We are often expected to accept and tolerate pain and suffering every month. It's my mission to support women through their menstrual cycle challenges, to empower them to navigate the support services they need and to feel deeply connected to themselves to be able to negotiate the ups and downs of life with resilience and self trust.
There is so much power and wisdom to harness and I am here to support you to do so.
Getting to know and honouring our cyclical wholeness is what Menstrual Cycle Awareness is all about, and I think it's life changing.
I have experienced for myself the power of coaching, and self-discovery through menstrual cycle awareness and I feel so grateful. After my fourth child was born nearly six years ago I started being very aware of feeling a monthly cycle of dread, fear, uncertainty and disconnection that left me feeling lost and like two different people battling against each other. I experienced rage, irritability and low mood. After a few years of tracking, and after even more years of my life thinking I was struggling with anxiety, social anxiety and low mood, I discovered I had Pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). This made sense of my own experience, and felt so reassuring to make sense of what had been going on. After researching treatment options I finally went to the gp for support.
Since then, and starting my own relationship with menstrual cycle awareness I began to learn to appreciate all the parts of me, embrace my darker parts and work with my inner critic. I have so much more compassion for myself, an understanding that comes with self trust and resilience. I feel like I've come home to myself.
